Sung Ho Kim wins APT Philippines 2017 II Main Event
In Manila, South Korea’s Sung Ho Kim was able to defeat fellow countryman Jae Hyun Lim to win the Main Event of the 2017 edition of the Asian Poker Tour (APT). Sung Ho took home USD 40,250 for first prize, along with his first ever APT Championship trophy and the APT Championship Ring.
The buy-in for each of the event’s 132 entries was USD 1,650, which created the USD 192,060 prize pool. A total of 18 players would end up divvying up the pool, with 10 players lining their pockets on Day 3, while the remaining players received their awards at the Final 8 Main Event battle on Friday, according to the press release.
Owned and operated by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. (RWM:Philippines), Resorts World Manila (RWM) was the location of the second Philippine leg of this year’s APT. Travellers is a joint venture between Philippine casino investor and casino cruise ship operator Genting Hong Kong Ltd (HKG:0678) and Philippines-based Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI:PHS).
The Winford Hotel and Casino in Metro Manila played host to the first leg Philippine leg of the 2017 APT. A subsidiary of the Manila Jockey Club Inc. operates the hotel and casino.
Nouméa, the capital of French-controlled South Pacific archipelago New Caledonia, will host the next poker tournament which will take place from Oct. 20 – 29.
